This is an extending dining table made by Charltons Furniture and is part of a much larger range called Bretange - Model B101
This table is a rectangular shape and it extends from the centre with a reciprocal action, which means that as you pull the leaf open from one side, the opposite ones moves too. You can use one or both leaves at a time so this means there are 3 different positions that the table can be used in.
These tables from Charltons have been well designed so as that when they are fully open there is the the right amount of space at the ends for a proper sized dining space. These tables don't have V grooves in the top so no food will get trapped and unlike many less quality tables the oak tops aren't made up of lots of pieces that colour and tone differently over time.
200cm Long but extends to 240cm with one leaf in and 280cm if you use both the leaves.
The Oak tops in this collection can be either in Natural Monocoat Oil or Satin Lacquer, you can read about the difference of these below.
Natural Monocoat Oil offers a more durable finish than many other oils. It is water repellent for a time and as with all oiled furniture excess fluids will need cleaning off quickly and not be allowed to stand. However, it is popular because special waxes within the oil are able to penetrate into the wood at a molecular level to make it repel stains and marks without creating a hard layer, this way the tactile feel of the wood is not lost. With this finish it is also recommended to use monocoat soap on a regular basis and also to re-oil it every 12-24 months.
Satin Lacquer offers a strong and resistant finish on top of oak which protects it, but once again spillages must be dried off as soon as possible.
The lower areas of the furniture can be in the same oak shades as the top above or in a select of painted finishes too.
These durable paint finishes are all water based which are more environmentally friendly and offer better protection against UV light and fading. You'll also be happy to hear that as they are water based they are easier to repair if there is an accident, and there are no chemical smells either.
