This is the Somerdale 1900mm Extending Dining Table which is made by Charltons Furniture - Model SO102
This dining table is a rectangular shape and extends from the centre outwards. There are two storage leaves stored inside the table and then can used both at the same time or with just one in place. This means that the table can extend to two different lengths from it's closed position. Each leaf is 40cm wide so therefore the table can go up to either 230cm long or 270cm long from the starting point of 180cm long. It's very easy to extend the table as it has a reciprocal action which means that when one side of the table is extended the opposite side moves on it's own to the mirror position.
190cm Long when closed
230cm Long with one leaf in position
270cm Long with both leaves in position
When fully extended the overhang at either end of the table is 46cm. This table can easily seat 10 people when fully extended.
The Oak tops in this collection can be either in Natural Monocoat Oil or Satin Lacquer, you can read about the difference of these below.
Natural Monocoat Oil offers a more durable finish than many other oils. It is water repellent for a time and as with all oiled furniture excess fluids will need cleaning off quickly and not be allowed to stand. However, it is popular because special waxes within the oil are able to penetrate into the wood at a molecular level to make it repel stains and marks without creating a hard layer, this way the tactile feel of the wood is not lost. With this finish it is also recommended to use monocoat soap on a regular basis and also to re-oil it every 12-24 months.
Satin Lacquer offers a strong and resistant finish on top of oak which protects it, but once again spillages must be dried off as soon as possible.
There are many colours available on the painted sections of the furniture.
These durable paint finishes are all water based which are more environmentally friendly and offer better protection against UV light and fading. You'll also be happy to hear that as they are waterbased they are easier to repair if there is an accident, and there are no chemical smells either
